Susan Junker

Details Matter Before Voting

This page highlights key facts about Junker's record and statements as a Bandera County Judge candidate. Based on public forums, documents, and articles, these issues raise questions about her alignment with Republican values, fiscal responsibility, and democratic principles. Review these facts and evidence and decide for yourself.

EARLY LIFE & CAREER SYNOPSIS

Grew up on farm in Peoria, IL. Enlisted in Army for money and education. Army was competitive for promotions and opportunities, retired after 25 yrs.

DETAIL 1: Voting History

In a recent judge forum, Junker stated she had never voted for a Democrat, however, ahead of the 2022 Republican Primary, Junker submitted an Application for Endorsement to the Bandera County Republican Executive Committee. Why the contradiction?

DETAIL 2: Conflicting Stance on Closed Primaries and Democrat Outreach

In a forum, Junker supported closing the Republican Primary but admitted meeting with Democrats before the election to discuss representation, which could be seen as encouraging crossover voting against Republican values.

DETAIL 3: Insulated from Property Tax Burdens

As potential County Judge overseeing budgets and taxes, Junker pays only $258 in property taxes on her $1.8M+ home due to a disabled status exemption on $2.6M+ in properties. How can she fight for taxpayers when insulated from the burden?

DETAIL 4: Opposing Multiple Republican PACs

Junker's March 6, 2024, Bandera Bulletin article titled "How Many Is One Too Many?" suggests limiting Bandera County to one Republican PAC, which is viewed as anti-democratic and rejecting citizens' rights to form groups and voice dissent.

DETAIL 5: Endorsement

2024: Junker endorsed Conrad Striegl — the former GOP Chair who was embroiled in and charged in multiple criminal cases — and she continued to support him even after the charges and convictions. Is this really the kind of Judge we want influencing decisions on judicial matters?

DETAIL 6: Political Record

2022: Junker Ran for Bandera County Judge (Republican Primary). Defeated with 40.53% (1,811 votes out of more than 18k Bandera registered voters). Junker was embroiled with the scandalous Republican County Executive Committee's fight between the two primary candidates, despite the longstanding Republican Party stance of not endorsing a candidate in a Primary Election. The Primary Election created a great deal of friction and division in the county's Republican party.
